Don Collins, Physical Therapist - OSC

Don Collins, Physical Therapist

After graduating from high school in the mid 60s I enlisted in the United States Navy. I served four years on Navy Destroyers with tours in Vietnam, the Mediterranean Sea, and Cuba. Being rewarded by a grateful nation, I used the G.I. Bill to attend Physical Therapy School at the University of Pittsburgh. As a practicing physical therapist for 35 years, I have worked in the general hospital setting, home health, and outpatient orthopaedic environments.

I have had the pleasure of working with a very wide variety of patients, and I feel they have often given me as much as I have been able to give them. People want to get better and look to the therapist for instruction, direction, and guidance. I find that my role in the therapy process is often that of teacher. When individuals have the understanding of what is transpiring within their bodies, they are better equipped to make the necessary life style changes.
