Sharon Oliver - Multi-Level Cervical Discectomy Surgery

Image of Dr. Jeffrey CarlsonMy name is Sharon. I relocated from New York and needed a chiropractic doctor and my friend recommended Orthopaedic & Spine Center to me. I was given an appointment with Dr. Jeffrey Carlson, I went to OSC because of an old neck injury that happened in 1998. I recently had experienced numbness in my pinky and ring finger in both hands and I was walking like I was intoxicated (and I don’t drink).

Dr. Carlson put me into Physical Therapy, which really didn’t help much. So, I had to have surgery. Because I was so scared about having the surgery, I prayed for Dr. Carlson and the work that he had to do, stepping out in faith. I have no regrets after the surgery. As of today, I am doing great. I highly recommend Dr. Carlson.

Beverly Creekmore - Total Knee Replacement Surgery & Post-op Physical Therapy

Dr. Boyd Haynes, IIII had Total Knee Replacement (TKR) on February 5, 2020. I was so afraid going into this surgery but I can honestly say it was so much better than I expected. Dr. Boyd Haynes did a great job, my knee is so strong now and I can do all of my daily activities…finally! He has such a great bedside manner and answered all my concerns and is so reassuring.

I did Physical Therapy at OSC with Dr. Paige Tretter and Fred Wintermantel. Again, a great experience! They are both excellent and always were encouraging and kept me informed of how I was progressing. A great staff there, from the front desk to the ladies that helped me through my exercises. I appreciate everyone of you.

Tom Buchinsky - Total Hip Replacement

Image of Dr. Boyd HaynesI could hardly walk into Dr. Boyd Haynes’ office. I had been misdiagnosed by many doctors. After a fast look at my hip x-ray, he determined that a total hip replacement was in order.

Dr. Haynes did the surgery on February 26, 2024 and within two weeks, I was driving my car and the walker was put away. The office staff was awesome and very encouraging.

Thank you, to Dr. Haynes and your office staff, for giving me back my life!

Debbie Lehrer - My Husband’s Total Knee Replacement

Image of Dr. Boyd HaynesI’m writing on behalf of my husband. He had a total knee replacement on 2/19/20, performed by OSC’s Dr. Boyd Haynes. I’ve been so impressed with the entire process, from the scheduling of the surgery to how quickly his disability paperwork was submitted, to the entire experience at the hospital. We were both greeted so nicely at Mary Immaculate Hospital..all of the nurses were fantastic, the care he got was great. While he was in the recovery area, one of the nurses called twice to update me on his progress. His surgery was at 7:30 AM and we were home by noon.

That night, I got a call from Dr. Haynes to check on how my husband was doing. That personal touch, is unheard of these days! Encompass Home Health called the night of his surgery and set up times for the nurse and physical therapist to come out to our home the next day. I had 100% confidence in both the nurse and Physical Therapists. The Physical Therapist, Sam, she was fantastic. She really got him moving and motivated. He stopped using the walker most of the time on day 4.

He’s now 3 weeks post-op and no longer is even using the cane. He has been doing outpatient Physical Therapy w/ Dr. Tom Toothaker at OSC, he is really wonderful. He’s following the home exercise program that Tom made for him.

From the spouse’s point of view, this entire experience was wonderful. With Dr. Haynes surgical skill, with the Home Health PT and Tom’s physical therapy program, my husband is having a wonderful recovery. I would highly recommend Dr. Boyd Haynes and OSC to everyone!!

Corey Rodriguez - Physical Therapy for Work-Related Back Injury

Image of Dr. Jamie SwaleI went to Dr. Mark McFarland for a back injury I sustained at work. He told me what he thought the cause was and that I should do Physical Therapy before considering surgery or other options. I 100% supported this decision.

The Physical Therapists I worked with did an awesome job helping figure out what worked and what didn’t. The facilities and equipment was state of the art. The staff is very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. And the best part is I felt like Dr. Jamie Swale and Fred Wintermantel were my friends. I hope to see them again, but not in these circumstances.

I would recommend OSC to anyone with an injury or needing physical therapy. Thanks again Dr. McFarland, Jamie, Fred, and everyone else who helped me.

Steve Smith - Lumbar Spine Surgery for Spinal Stenosis

Dr. Jeffrey CarlsonI have spinal stenosis, pinched nerves, and disc trouble. I was in a great deal of pain, from my right hip through the knee, down the right side of my leg and across the top of my foot. I felt like the mummy -dragging my leg behind me. I tried shots in various locations. They would not work very long, if at all.

I finally had Dr. Jeffrey Carlson do surgery, he cleaned up the area around the nerve and disc. I went home with no pain, other than some minor stuff around the incision site. In just two weeks, I can walk around Walmart with ease. So what I’m saying people is - don’t mess around, get the operation and be free of the pain.

Ricky Watlet - Total Knee Replacement

Dr. Boyd Haynes, IIIAfter a year of ongoing right knee pain, my doctor (at a different practice) decided I needed a partial knee replacement. In November, 2018, I had the surgery performed. For the first three weeks after surgery, I was improving steadily. In the fourth week, I started to have pain in and above the knee, with a clicking or crackling feeling. My doctor told me all of this was normal and that it would take a year to heal.

After months of pain, in October, 2019 he performed surgery to remove scar tissue from the previous surgery and to correct a torn meniscus. Six weeks later, the pre-surgical pains were still there.

A friend and patient of Dr. Boyd Haynes recommended that I see him. I did, and after taking x-rays and reviewing my previous MRI, he said I would need a total knee replacement to correct the problems.

Dr. Haynes performed the surgery in mid-February, 2020. During surgery, he found and removed a large bone fragment embedded in the muscle and tendon. Within one week of surgery, I was able to switch from a walker to a cane. On the twelfth day after surgery, I was able to walk up stairs normally. This was weeks earlier than my previous surgery with a different doctor. I realize that not everyone will be able to do this in twelve days without pain, but I give full credit to Dr. Haynes and his surgical team for their excellent work to allow my quick recovery.

Cecil S. - Spine Surgery & Physical Therapy

Jeffrey Carlson, M.D.

I was referred to the Orthopaedic & Spine Center (OSC) for my lower back pain. After approximately 10 years of off and on back issues I recently experienced heightened and continuous pain. It was my first experience with OSC and Dr. Jeffrey Carlson. Dr. Carlson reviewed my MRI and x-rays with me and explained the cause and effects of my pain. He explained the options for addressing my issues.

After trying the epidural as my first option, it became obvious surgery would be my best option. Dr. Carlson set the process in motion for my surgery. I’ve been extremely impressed with the thorough planning, coordination, scheduling and execution processes of OSC. I’m very happy with surgery by Dr. Carlson and the healing results.

I recently started Physical Therapy at OSC’s therapy facility. I’m equally impressed and satisfied with that facility and its personnel. Everyone I’ve come into contact with at OSC have made for a welcoming experience. I will definitely and highly recommend OSC to family and friends.
